Ingredients & Allergy Facts

Is this sorbet? Is it ice cream? What's up?

TBH, great question! While our frozen fruit bars are technically not ice cream - they're also not your mama's sorbet. From our origins at the farmer's market, we were inspired to put an innovative twist on sorbet - traditionally just made with water, sugar, and fruit, to create a smooth, creamy, scoopable treat with nut butter and coconut cream. Our current line of frozen fruits bars is inspired by our sorbet roots, but in a category entirely their own, with a smooth, creamy center that eats like the most decadent craft ice cream bar, dipped in a candylike shell with a crunch.

TLDR - we're in league all our own. We suggest letting you tastebuds be the ultimate judge.

Are your frozen fruit bars dairy-free? Are they lactose-free?

All of SorBabes' frozen fruit bar flavors are 100% dairy free and lactose free. Because we're all about that flavor, not dairy.

Dairy, or even dairy alternatives, actually block flavor receptors! So when we set out to create the most flavorful fruit bars ever, we knew dairy had no place in our frozen fruit bars - and the magic of real fruits was all we needed.

Are your frozen fruit bars certified Kosher?

So glad you asked -- yes! We're so proud that all our flavors are Kosher Pareve certified. Spread the word!

I suffer from allergies; what do I need to know about where your frozen fruit bars are created? Is there a possibility of cross contamination?

SorBabes bars are manufactured in an SQF certified facility, ensuring that food safety and good manufacturing practices are monitored and maintained. Strict allergen control practices are in place based on industry standards. If you have extreme food allergies, please know that our products are manufactured in a peanut-free facility that also produces products with wheat, soy, egg, milk, and tree nuts.

Where can I find your ingredients?

We created our indulgent frozen fruit bars because we didn’t see anything else on the market that tasted crazy-decadent, wildly flavorful, but made with wholesome, plant-based ingredients we could feel good about giving our kids. So yeah, we take our ingredients pretty darn seriously. You can find all complete ingredients and nutrition label info on the page for each flavor of our sorbet, on our shop page.

Have a specific ingredient question? We’d love the excuse to talk ingredients! Send us an email at hello@sorbabes.com and we’ll get right back to you.

Is your sugar 100% certified vegan?

We’re thrilled to say, it is indeed. All sugar used in our frozen fruit bar flavors is 100% vegan certified, meaning it’s produced without the use of any animal products or byproducts (traditionally, most cane sugar is processed using bone char during the filtration process, to achieve its white color. To which we said…hard pass!)

Do your flavors contain nuts?

None of our current frozen fruit bar flavors contain nuts. They gain their crunchy outsides from puffed quinoa, shredded coconut, and bits of berries, respectfully. Our old, now-retired flavor Vanilla Caramel Crunch is our only flavor that contained nuts, in the form of almond butter (in case you have any stragglers still hanging out in your freezer!)
If you suffer from a severe allergy we advise you avoid our products since they’re manufactured in a facility where we can’t guarantee no potential cross contamination occurs from shared equipment.

Are your flavors gluten free?

Only our now-retired ice cream bar, Cocoa Cookies & Cream, contained gluten, again, if you have any still chilling in your freezer. Otherwise, with the rest of our frozen fruit bar flavors, you never have to play Where’s Waldo looking for that little GF symbol - all our fruit bars are 100% gluten-free.
In the case of those with severe allergies, we are not certified gluten-free, and we manufacture in a facility that is not certified gluten free (though we thoroughly cleanse and sanitize before each production run.)
You can find all ingredients and nutrition facts on our shop page - just click on the bar flavor to learn more.

Why Aren't Your Products Keto/Sugar Free/Lower Calorie?

Here's the scoop. Our flavorful crunchy frozen fruit bars keep it real real with no artificial sweeteners, no artificial anything, and only farm-to-freezer plant-based ingredients. But we're not a diet ice cream - we're chasing flavor, creaminess, and richness above a low calorie count. If you'd care to join us, we invite you to ditch diet rules and dessert like a mother. You can chillax about our nutrition label - our frozen fruit bars are undeniable better-for-you than many other options in the freezer aisle - but we've designed our pops to be a treat that brings joy (the whole point of dessert, we'd argue!)

Is sorbet healthier than ice cream?

We all scream for ice cream, but we think it's time for our sorbet-inspired frozen fruit bars to get the same love. Sorbet is actually the world's OG frozen dessert, while being naturally vegan and gluten-free (and when made right, like we think we do it, just as creamy and decadent!)

Words like "healthier" depend on your definition and what you're looking for, but when comparing SorBabes to traditional ice cream bars or even vegan ice cream bars, ours are far lower in calories, sugar, and fat than many options out there. And because we believe in treating yourself, the planet, and animals right, our flavors contain zero dairy, artificial sweeteners, or ingredients you can't pronounce.

What is the difference between sherbet and sorbet?

Glad you asked! Sherbet and sorbet are often referred to interchangeably, but they're quite different treats. Yes, they're both creamy, cool, and delicious, but sherbet typically contains dairy like milk or cream (and sometimes eggs.) Sorbet does not.

Sorbet - the world's oldest frozen dessert, hailing from Persia around 550 BCE (truly the OG!), is traditionally a frozen blend of fruit, fruit juice, and sweetener. We've jazzed ours up to eat more like a rich ice cream bar, with delicious inclusions like nut butters, coconut milk, swirls of caramel, and candy-like shells, but all our sorbet remains dairy-free and made with real fruit - true to its roots.

While we're on the subject, is gelato the same thing as sorbet? Is sherbet and gelato the same? No and no! All three are distinctly different treats, with gelato being a close cousin of ice cream, containing dairy but less than ice cream. Gelato has a lower milk fat percentage than ice cream and is mixed with less air.

Shipping/Returns

How do you ship frozen dessert?

To quote our own cheesiest joke ever…it’s all about that dry ice, ice baby! We package and ship our frozen fruit bars in a cooler full of dry ice, meaning your treats arrives at your doorstep perfectly frozen. We ship using UPS two-day delivery on all orders placed before Wednesday of each week. Orders placed after Wednesday will be shipped out the following Monday, for 2-day delivery.
When your bars arrive, please use care and never handle dry ice with bare hands!

Why are the frozen fruit bars more expensive online than at my store?

We began offering nationwide shipping during the pandemic, and because we know the luxury of dessert delivered to your doorstep with the click of a button! And because we don't yet have worldwide domination (but working on it!) The price you see online reflects the costs for us to pay our warehouse crew, cover shipping materials  and staff, transport, and the retail price of the bars themselves.

Can I return my frozen fruit bars?

Due to the perishable nature of our product, we cannot accept returns. We cannot accept returns due to personal taste (though we've never had anyone not love our pops, just saying.) Please do not attempt to mail your products back to us...that would end in a sad, sticky mess. However, if you’re less than thrilled about your bars, please reach out to hello@sorbabes.com. Your happiness is #1 to us and we’ll do everything in our power to make things right.

Flavors & Finding Us

Why can’t I find your bars at my local grocery store?

As a small brand run by a small team, we don’t have world domination yet, but we’re working on it. We know it’s a huge bummer if you can’t find us at your local store at this time. During the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing supply chain challenges, we had to make tough decisions about scaling back our production and retail areas, like so many small businesses.

You can always order sorbet online to get your fix. And find your nearest store here. You can also request us here - these customer requests go a long way in helping us get onto more shelves!

The site locator says you're at my local store, but I'm not seeing SorBabes there. Help!?

Our store locator is kept as up to date as possible, but it's up to retailers which specific store locations of theirs carry us or stock specific flavors. The simplest solution is to call your local store and ask if they carry us OR use your store's website. Simply enter your local store address, search "SorBabes," and if you see us listed on the site, you'll know for sure we'll be at that store! Want us to do it for you? Just send us a DM or email us at hello@sorbabes.com - we're happy to help!

What happened to the pint flavors?

Ahh, our beloved old pint line. We like to imagine our OG flavors are lounging on a tropical island somewhere, soaking up some R&R with a fruity drink nearby…sigh. In 2021, we retired our original pint line after the overwhelmingly positive response to our flavor dipped, crunchy frozen fruit bars. We believe they’re the most delicious and fun treats we’ve ever made.

We know change is hard, but sometimes it’s also crazy delicious! We hope you can fall in love with our frozen fruit bars just as much (basically pints on a stick,) and rejoice in a dessert that requires zero dishes or sharing.

Sustainability and Ethics

Where is your chocolate sourced and what measures do you take to ensure ethical, fair labor practices in the harvesting and production of your cocoa?

Here at SorBabes, treating others and the planet right is core to who we are and why we do what we do. For our creamy coatings, we source our chocolate from Clasen, a supplier we chose to work with because they share our same values while making delicious, high quality chocolate. Specifically, they're been vocal in their commitment to a zero tolerance policy regarding slavery and human trafficking in the industry, and have issued the following statement:
"Clasen Quality Chocolate, Inc. (CQC), being a socially responsible corporate citizen, is committed to conducting all aspects of business in keeping with the highest moral, ethical, and legal standards. CQC supports the goal of eradicating slavery and human trafficking in all forms, including forced and child labor, and is fully committed to a “zero tolerance” policy regarding working with any person(s) or entity, which benefits in any way, from human trafficking and slavery practices. CQC does not and will not condone any person(s) or agents in the practice of recruiting, harboring, and/or transporting people for the purpose of forced or coerced labor or sexual exploitation. Clasen Quality Chocolate, Inc. is dedicated to providing the highest quality products and services offered by the confectionery industry."

Is your packaging recyclable?

Yes, our cardboard box packaging can (and should be!) recycled, and are also made out of recycled materials for a double win.
Treating the planet right is core to who we are as humans and a brand, and reducing the amount of single-use plastic in our landfills is another reason we chose to create bars instead of pints.

How do you give back?

We are proud to support the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation, an award-winning international charity dedicated to planting fruit, nut and medicinal trees to alleviate world hunger, combat global pollution of the environment, strengthen communities, and improve the surrounding air, soil, and water.
Their programs strategically donate orchards, training, and aftercare where the harvest will best serve communities for generations -- including public schools, city parks, community gardens, food banks, low-income neighborhoods, Native American reservations, international hunger relief sites, and animal sanctuaries.

With each box sold of our frozen fruit bars, you're supporting their incredible work. Cheers to that!
